Operational Behavior

Q. Wireless Network Ignition has told me that it has successfully connected me and that I have access to the Internet but my connection seems unreliable or slower than it should be?

A. This is most likely caused by a weak wireless signal between your computer and the Wireless Access Device. You may be able to increase your wireless signal strength by:

  • Decreasing the distance between your computer and your Wireless Access Device.
  • If your Wireless Access Device is sitting on anything metal you may increase the strength by moving it to a non-metallic surface.
  • If you have any 2.4 Ghz cordless telephones in your house these devices can interfere with your signal. Try unplugging them temporarily to see if this is the source of the problem.
  • Is the Access Point in a different room? If so how many walls does the signal have to travel through? Walls can diminish your signal strength.
  • Is the Access Point located near the floor or near the ceiling in the room? Generally the higher the better.
  • Have you made sure that the Antenna(s) on the Acess Point is screwed on tight?
